CHICAGO-(US)   hcp times Only a few months after taking over as head of the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s long-running civil rights organization, a Dallas pastor announced his resignation on Tuesday.

The Associated Press was informed by the Rev. Frederick Haynes III that he had resigned his position as the leader of the Chicago-based Rainbow PUSH Coalition, effective immediately, in writing.

He said over the phone from Texas, “I felt it was best to step down as president and CEO of Rainbow PUSH after a time of prayer and consultation.” “I will always be grateful that the Rev. Jackson thought highly of me enough to succeed him as president of the organization he founded.”

63-year-old Haynes stated that he thought it was “necessary” to move on because of “challenges that continue to exist,” but he would not go into further detail. Written on Rainbow PUSH letterhead, his resignation letter likewise omitted any explanation of his choice.

Jackson said in a statement released late on Tuesday that Haynes’ resignation was accepted by the organization and that they would continue to be “partners in the fight for peace, civil rights, and economic justice.”

Jackson announced that Yusef Jackson, his attorney’s son, would remain the company’s chief operating officer. He made no mention of the possibility of selecting a different CEO and president.

“By leveling the playing field in education and the economy, we will continue the vital work of gaining, defending, and preserving civil rights,” stated Jesse Jackson. “We are steadfast in our commitment to advancing justice and peace throughout the world.”

The pioneer of civil rights, Haynes, made his successor known when he announced in July that he would be leaving the group he had founded more than 50 years earlier.

In a ceremony held in Dallas in February, Haynes, the pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church, was formally installed as president and CEO. He intended to take the helm of Rainbow PUSH, a Texas-based organization that promotes political activism and social justice. According to Friendship-West, a church with roughly 13,000 members, he has served as senior pastor since 1983.

Even though Jackson and Rainbow PUSH were officially taken over in February, Haynes claimed he started working in the office right away during the summer and hoped to continue working with them both in the future.

“He remains one of my heroes. “He remains one of the greatest leaders of all time,” said Haynes.

In his resignation letter, he declared his intention to continue his work “in the fight for liberation and freedom.”

Jackson, a key figure in the contemporary Civil Rights Movement, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and has struggled with a number of health problems recently.

The eighty-two-year-old former presidential candidate has not escaped attention, though.

Jackson made an appearance in January at a crowded Chicago City Council meeting in favor of a contentious resolution calling for an end to hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
