Among the six AAP MLAs from Punjab who are in jail for the Rs 40.92 crore bank fraud, the ED files a prosecution complaint.

Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra, an AAP MLA who was jailed, and six other people are the targets of a prosecution complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to a bank fraud case involving Rs 40.92 crore, the agency announced on Wednesday.

In the case of Tara Corporation Limited and others, the agency’s Jalandhar Zonal Office filed a prosecution complaint (PC) on January 5 before a special Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Act court in Mohali, Punjab, against Jaswant, the former director of Tara Corporation Limited and Tara Health Food Limited, as well as six other accused parties, including three companies. On March 18, the court acknowledged receipt of the prosecution’s complaint.

Jaswant was previously detained by ED on June 11 of last year in accordance with PMLA 2002. He remains under the legal custody of the Mohali special PMLA court.

Based on a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Jaswant Singh, Tara Corporation Limited, and other parties, the ED opened an investigation. “The results of the ED’s investigation showed that Tara Corporation Limited obtained a loan of Rs 40.92 crore through criminal conspiracy and deception, which was then transferred to several false companies from Tara Corporation Limited and merged into Tara Health Food Limited (THFL) and Tara Sales Limited,” the ED said in a statement. Additionally, the federal agency stated that in addition to the Rs 33.99 crore given to THFL, an amount of Rs 3.12 crore had been transferred to Jaswant Singh’s personal accounts. Immovable property valued at Rs. 35.10 crore that was used to commit money laundering was previously attached by the ED.
