“Budget Trail Tracked To BJP’s Account”: AAP Threatens To Take PM Modi And The BJP Chief into Arrest

New Delhi: Senior AAP leader and Minister Atishi claimed on Saturday that the money trail had been discovered in the BJP’s account, a day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was placed under the Directorate of Enforcement’s custody by a Delhi court. She also challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Enforcement Department to “arrest” BJP president JP Nadda.

Atishi asserted during a press conference that no financial trail had been found that connected any AAP leader to date. “CBI and ED have been conducting investigations into the Delhi “excise policy scam” for the past two years. Over the course of these two years, a question has repeatedly come up. The money trail is where? Where was the money spent? No AAP leader, minister, or employee had any illicit gains retrieved from them, according to Atishi.

She went on to say that Arvind Kejriwal was detained due to the remarks made by one individual, Sharad Chandra Reddy. Two days ago, Arvind Kejriwal was taken into custody in connection with the same case based solely on the testimony of Sharat Chandra Reddy. He is Aurobindo Pharma’s proprietor. On November 9, 2022, he was called in to be questioned. He made it very evident that he has no connection to the AAP and has never spoken to or met Arvind Kejriwal. The ED had him arrested the following day as soon as he said that. He altered his statement after spending several months behind bars. He claimed to have met and discussed the excise policy issue with Arvind Kejriwal. The moment he said that, he was granted bail. However, where is the cash? She reportedly asked, “Where is the money trail?” to news agency ANI.

Furthermore, Atishi stated that Sarath Chandra Reddy gave the BJP bonds worth Rs 4.5 crore and that there was no evidence of illegal revenue found during the ED’s raid on the chief minister’s Delhi home. “Sharat Chandra Reddy gave the BJP electoral bonds valued at Rs 4.5 crore. and afterwards provided bonds totaling Rs 55 crores. The money trail is where? Funds from a money trail were discovered in the BJP’s account. “I demand that BJP national president JP Nadda be arrested by Prime Minister Narendra and the ED,” Atishi declared.

Arvind Kejriwal was placed under remand to the Enforcement Directorate’s custody on Friday for a period of seven days, or until March 28. This comes one day after the probe agency had arrested him in relation to the Delhi Excise Policy case, which is connected to a money laundering case. The order was issued by Special CBI judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court after Kejriwal was brought before the court on Friday after being detained by the central investigative agency on Thursday night.

The case concerns purported anomalies and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi excise policy case 2022, which was subsequently abandoned.

The ED claimed in court filings that the chief minister of Delhi is the main organizer and driving force behind demands for bribes from businessmen. Furthermore, according to the agency, Kejriwal had a direct hand in creating the Excise policy. The ED attorney asserted that AAP media coordinator Vijay Nair was employed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Nair, who the agency claimed to reside close to Kejriwal’s house, served as a go-between for the AAP and the South group. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) asserted that in addition to the sum of Rs 100 crore, profits received by those who offered bribes were also considered proceeds of crime. According to the agency, it tracked down Hawala trails totaling Rs 45 crore that were utilized in the Goa election.

The opposition leaders have harshly criticized the BJP-led center over the central agency’s arrest. Gopal Rai, the leader of the AAP, announced on Friday that the party will “gherao” the prime minister’s home on March 26 in protest of Kejriwal’s ED arrest.

Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, two prominent AAP leaders, are being held in judicial custody in relation to the excise policy case. After multiple rounds of questioning, Sisodia—who was the deputy chief minister of Delhi at the time—was taken into custody by the CBI on February 26. Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was taken into custody by the ED on October 5.

In the course of its investigation into allegations of money laundering connected to the now-canceled excise policy, the Enforcement Department (ED) detained Bharat Rashta Samithi (BRS) leader and daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao K Kavitha a few days prior to Kejriwal’s arrest. Kavitha is detained by the ED until March 23.
