The Haryana State Commission for Women has called Congressman Randeep Singh Surjewala to appear before it on April 18 and give an explanation for comments he made during his campaign against BJP leader Hema Malini.

The commission declared that the congressman’s purported comments were improper and violated a woman’s dignity.

The controversy started when BJP IT department head Amit Malviya shared a video that allegedly showed Randeep Surjewala criticizing the BJP and making offensive remarks about Hema Malini.

The BJP quickly filed a complaint with the EC, denouncing as “vulgar, sexist, and disparaging” the comments made by Randeep Surjewala.

However, Randeep Surjewala defended himself by asserting that the footage had been altered and doctored. He claimed he never meant to cause the BJP MP any offense or to denigrate him.

Taking a strong stand against actor-politician Randeep Surjewala, the Election Commission also issued a show-cause notice for remarks it deemed to be “undignified, uncivilized, and vulgar.”

Randeep Surjewala, however, defended himself, claiming that the video was doctored and manipulated. He asserted that he never intended to offend or demean the BJP MP.
