Derogatory Tattoos: Get Rid of Them in 15 Days: Odisha Police To Special Forces. The Odisha Police have requested that members of its special security battalion remove any body tattoos within a 15-day period because they are deemed “obscene and derogatory” and are easily noticeable when wearing a uniform.

In a Tuesday order, the deputy commissioner of police (security), Bhubaneswar, directed all relevant officials to compile a list of SSB men who had “easily noticeable tattoos” on their bodies.

Important buildings such as the high court, the state secretariat, the chief minister’s residence, Raj Bhavan, and the Odisha Legislative Assembly are guarded by SSB personnel.

In addition, they offer security to dignitaries and VVIPs traveling within the state as well as outside of Odisha.

Many unit men have been observed getting offensive, pornographic, and disparaging tattoos on their bodies, which damage the reputation of both the battalion and the Odisha Police.

The DCP (security) stated in the order that “therefore, after careful consideration, it was decided that, from today onwards, tattoos that are visible while wearing a uniform are not permitted.”

Making a list of men “having tattoos on their body parts easily noticeable while wearing a uniform and asking them to permanently remove the tattoos within 15 days from the date of receiving the order” is the directive given to all guards overseeing SSB personnel.

The DCP issued a warning, stating that those who disobeyed the order would face necessary departmental actions if it was not followed.

He told the SSB staff that in order to keep their professionalism, they should refrain from getting ink on their hands, necks, or faces.
