Election-related Vehicles Will Have GPS Tracking Installed, Per Poll Body. According to an official, the Election Commission has chosen to equip every car used for voting in West Bengal with a GPS location tracking system. He stated today that a message in this regard has been forwarded to the poll workers.
The official stated, “The GPS tracking system will be used to ensure that there is no tampering while bringing them to the strong room after polling and to monitor the movement of EVMs and other polling materials from the distribution/dispersion center and receipt center (DCRC) to the polling station on the day before the elections.”

He added that in addition to questioning the drivers of the questioned vehicles and the staff responsible for the EVMs, the poll body has requested that the administration act quickly if any discrepancy is discovered.
Arnab Chatterjee, Joint Secretary in the Department of School Education, was named Joint Chief Electoral Officer by the commission today.
An official order stated that Mr. Chatterjee succeeds Rahul Nath.
On April 19, the state’s seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will get underway.
