“What If I Have A Nuclear Bomb?”: Akasa Fliers Taken into Arrest at Delhi Airport
Officials said today that two persons were taken into custody by the police on April 5 after they allegedly claimed to be carrying a “nuclear bomb” while being frisked at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
They were recognized as Gujarati Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, both from Rajkot.
Jignesh Malan and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, the passengers, allegedly questioned the need for security checks and claimed to have been checked before boarding the Akasa Air flight.
“While the Akasa Air flight (DEL-AMD) was in secondary ladder point security (SLPC), staff members Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani were asked to frisk. One of them asked, “What are you checking when it is already done?” during the frisking process, according to the FIR.
“Sir, it is a duty and an additional security measure for the security of the aircraft and its occupants,” the staff politely replied.
One of the travelers is reported to have responded, “Aap kya karoge main nuclear bomb le jaa raha hun? (How would you respond if I had a nuclear bomb on me?)”
In order to protect all occupants and the aircraft, passengers were not permitted to board the aircraft after that.
The Indian Penal Code (IPC)’s Section 182, 505(1)(b) was invoked in response to the complaint and the ensuing investigation.
