On March 27, the Shiv Sena (UBT) released its initial slate of sixteen Maharashtra candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are set to take place in seven stages starting on April 19. Former Union Minister Anant Geete from the Raigad seat and Arvind Sawant from the South Mumbai seat are the party’s nominees.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) includes the state-led party by Uddhav Thackeray as a constituent. The MVA-affiliated NCP, headed by Sharadchandra Pawar, has not yet made an official announcement about its candidates for the state. However, Congress—which is also a part of the MVA—has declared its candidates for a few seats where it will not encounter resistance from the other members of the alliance.
Party leader and Lok Sabha member Rahul Shewale has said that the Shinde-led Shiv Sena is expected to release its first set of candidates in the coming days in reference to the state’s chief minister, Eknath Shinde. The ruling coalition is made up of the BJP, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party.
Maharashtra, which has 48 Lok Sabha seats, second only to Uttar Pradesh (80), will have five voting phases starting on April 19. The election for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place in seven stages. Roughly 97 crore people will be eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
