Former cricketer Jonty Rhodes, who is supporting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, became involved in a social media controversy due to his conversation with an LSG fan. The social media exchange turned ugly when a fan claimed that the South African superstar had called him “unemployed.” As the controversy grew, Jonty felt compelled to use social media to clarify his position and, in the event that his remarks caused the fan harm, to express his regret.
The fan’s tweet, “Day 10 of Tweeting until LSG Replies,” on X, which was formerly Twitter, was the catalyst for everything. Jonty Rhodes was not pleased to see the fan act in such desperation, even though the post has since been removed.

“Brother, wake up.” We sincerely appreciate your support, so thank you. But really, come on. Rhodes answered.

“He could have just replied normally,” the fan retorted. “I tweeted as a fan and I did not abuse or spread hatred anywhere. If I can not tweet for my favorite team to reply me and the coach of that team feels that supporting them is unpaid, then I lost all respect for him.” I will not support LSG any more!”

The retired cricket player from South Africa responded sharply to a fan who asked where he had called him jobless on social media because he was not about to let the conversation get out of hand.

“Where did I say you do not have a job, please? If you do not want an honest response, do not tag me in your countdown. I have spent time at Sheroes Hangout in Lucknow talking to people who survived acid attacks. It will take these amazing young women anywhere from five to seven years before the people who committed these horrible crimes are brought before a judge and found guilty. I have a lot of time for these women because all they ask is for us to acknowledge them as human beings who are still capable of making a positive contribution to society. Because they are currently on day 1500 and counting, consider their countdown before bringing up your own. I apologize, though, if I offended you.”
