Mamata Banerjee’s health update: Bengal CM is to be under “close monitoring,” has stitches in her nose and forehead, and has been discharged.

Mamata Banerjee health update: On March 14, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee fell near her home and cut her forehead and nose severely “due to some push from behind.” This information was provided by Manimoy Bandyopadhyay, the director of the state-run SSKM hospital.

SSKM director Bandyopadhyay told the media on Thursday that Mamata had been released from the hospital following treatment for her injury. He also added that the chief minister was admitted to the hospital with a “history of (a) falling within the vicinity of her home due to some push from behind.”.

The director of the hospital also told her that three stitches had been placed in her forehead and one in her nose by medical professionals.

“The West Bengal chief minister arrived at our hospital at 7:30 p.m. today, claiming that she had fallen near her house after being pushed from behind. The director stated, “She suffered from a cerebral concussion and had a deep gash over her forehead and nose, which was bleeding heavily.

“It was crucial that her vitals were stabilized, so she was evaluated by HoD neurosurgery, HoD medicine, and our institute’s cardiologist at first,” he continued. The necessary dressing was completed, and three stitches were placed—one on the nose and three on the forehead. A CT scan, ECG, and other tests were performed. In this regard, medical professionals offered their opinions.”

Despite being told to remain in the hospital, the chief minister “preferred to go home,” according to him.

“She was told to stay in the hospital for observation, but she was more eager to leave. She will continue to be closely monitored and receive treatment in accordance with the doctors’ recommendations. Tomorrow, she will be evaluated once more, and the course of treatment will be determined accordingly.

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) announced earlier in the day that Banerjee had suffered a “major injury.” The AITC also released images of Mamata taken while she was in the hospital, bleeding profusely from a deep cut on her forehead.

“Mamata Banerjee, our chairperson, suffered a serious injury. Please remember her in your prayers,” the Trinamool Congress on X post and images said.

Political leaders prayed for her well-being and wished her a speedy recovery after learning of her injury.

She received fast-healing wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I hope Mamata Didi recovers quickly and has the best health possible,” PM Modi wrote on X. Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, posted on X with the message, “Wishing Mamata-ji strength and a very swift recovery.”

On CAA, Mamata Banerjee

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) of the Center has drawn criticism from the chief minister of West Bengal, who claimed that the Act “eliminates Muslims as if they have never contributed to the nation.” Banerjee expressed her disapproval of CAA, saying, “It is because they have maintained five communities on the list. Furthermore, Muslims were not included on the list, as if they had made no contributions to Hindustan.”
