The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will protect the safety of the persecuted minorities, according to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for “spreading lies” about it.

Three election campaign meetings were held in West Bengal by the Defense Minister, two of which were held close to the border with Bangladesh.

Gouri Shankar Ghosh had his first meeting in Murshidabad, Khagen Murmu had his second meeting in the Malda Uttar constituency, and party candidate Raju Bista had his third meeting in Darjeeling.

At a public meeting in Malda, West Bengal, Mr. Singh declared, “Mamata Banerjee is spreading lies regarding CAA among the people of Bengal, especially the Muslim community.”

He continued, “As they are our people, the CAA will ensure the safety of persecuted religious minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.”

In addition, he criticized CM Mamata for her statement that the CAA should be abolished and claimed that “no power in the world” could halt this law.

“Mamata Didi declared that the CAA would be eliminated. She is lying to the people of West Bengal, and I want to know why. Speaking the truth to the people is another way to engage in politics. The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh stated that “no state has the authority to abolish CAA, and no power in the world can stop CAA.”

CM Mamata recently urged the state’s migrant workers to abstain from returning before casting their votes in the Lok Sabha elections, claiming that the BJP government would revoke their citizenship if they did not.

He attacked the TMC and the Congress party for “corruption,” claiming that in the previous ten years, no corruption charges had been brought against the BJP-led Central government.

“The TMC and Congress leaders were imprisoned as a result of their extensive involvement in corruption. Since the BJP has been in power for the past ten years, nobody has been able to expose corruption during that time. There is no distinction between the Trinamool Congress and the Congress in the manner that the TMC is running the state, Mr. Singh stated.

The Defense Minister vehemently denounced the Sandeshkhali incident, in which a number of women have accused TMC leaders of molestation and land grabbing, and declared that if the BJP wins power, nobody would dare to repeat such an incident.

West Bengal is known for its academicians, but under the current administration, crime is rife in the area. Anarchy is what defines West Bengal as a whole. The horrors committed against women in Sandeshkhali shocked the world and damaged India’s reputation abroad. “The Sandeshkhali incident has embarrassed humanity as a whole,” Mr. Singh stated.

He went on, “I promise that if the BJP forms a government here, we will see who dares to repeat the incident like Sandeshkhali.”

In addition, he praised the Women’s Reservation Bill that the Parliament passed and announced that women will be granted one-third reservation starting with the following election.

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has maintained a stronghold. In 2014, the party secured 34 of the 42 seats. However, the BJP made significant progress in 2019 and won 18 seats, while the TMC lost 22 seats.

Voting in West Bengal is taking place across all seven phases. Polling was held in three constituencies on April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
