Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma is well known for his hilarious comments on the field and the stump mic captured another gem from him during the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. With Dinesh Karthik playing a blinder for RCB, Rohit decided to sledge him with a ‘World Cup’ remark which was caught on the stump mic. “World Cup ke selection ke liye push karna hai isko, shabash. Dimag mein chal raha hai iske World Cup. Shabash DK, World Cup khelna hai (He will have to push for his World Cup selection, bravo. He has the World Cup (T20) on his mind. Bravo DK. It was in connection to the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 where Karthik can find a spot in the India squad if he can impress the national selectors.

Dinesh Karthik was in tremendous form as he slammed an unbeaten 53 of just 23 balls to take Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a big total of 196/8 despite Jasprit Bumrah taking five wickets. Karthik made a strong case for his T20 World Cup selection with a knock that had four sixes and five boundaries.
Karthik took a particular liking to the Mumbai Indians fast bowler as he scored 19 runs in the final over of the RCB innings. The veteran cricketer ended up hitting four boundaries in the over with a variety of shots on display. Karthik was also the only batter to hit the in-form Bumrah for a maximum.
However, Karthik’s efforts were in vain as Mumbai Indians rode tremendous batting performances to chase down the target quite easily. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma provided the perfect start to the run chase while Suryakumar Yadav provided the final flourish with a 19-ball-52.
