The entire Indian cricket ecosystem has been impacted by Virat Kohli’s fitness blueprint, according to chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, who has referred to MS Dhoni as a “pure instinct man” in a sport that long ago embraced the use of data and insight. Even at 35 years old, Kohli still leads the field in completing the most challenging fitness exercises. “You see players like Virat Kohli, who is among the guys who establish the standard. You can see that he has only gotten fitter after ten to fifteen years in the business. It gradually spreads throughout the ecosystem when someone like him leads by example and proposes essential items or fitness requirements.

“It has advanced (to the younger generation) gradually. The fitness levels of players have changed over the last 15 to 20 years or so, according to Agarkar on SportifywithPRG.

In the current IPL season, Kohli has been in incredible form. He has amassed a record-breaking eighth century in the competition and is currently leading the run charts with 316 runs scored from five games played.

Because of his instincts, Dhoni has won five coveted IPL titles. Even though he no longer captains the Chennai Super Kings, his presence on the field gives his team a lot of confidence.

The former cricket player for India believed that Dhoni’s amazing natural instincts as a captain cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence.

“There is an amazing amount of data available. It is possible to plan an entire inning, and I believe that is what most people do these days, but it is not guaranteed to work every time. Not everything you have planned will work out the way you have intended, so you need a captain on the ground.

It might on a given day, but not on most days. Human instinct is required in that situation. Because of his feel for the game, MS Dhoni is regarded as a great captain. The 46-year-old former India pace bowler expressed his opinion, saying, “He knew what was happening and how the game was changing.”

According to Agarkar, the IPL has grown into a significant venue for identifying talent, but the most important quality that would set them apart from the others was a strong temperament.

“As you can see, players keep popping up in the Indian Premier League. After serving as a selector for a few months, some players emerge out of nowhere and perform well even on the biggest stage. Due to the intense crowd pressure, the Indian Premier League is a relatively large stage.

“When you stand up and assess a player’s temperament and ability to perform consistently, it does not matter if you are bowling to the best batters in the world or facing one of the best bowlers in the world,” Agarkar stated.

Because of the sheer volume of players that come through the domestic structure, it can be a challenging task at times. However, with time, as you watch more players, temperament can sometimes tell them apart.”

Agarkar thinks that a close-knit team will usually come out on top.

“A close-knit group is usually beneficial. Although you do not have to be best friends, you should still celebrate each other’s achievements. It can occasionally be a little challenging if that does not occur.”
