The BJP candidate for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, Bansuri Swaraj, claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is currently in power, has turned into a party that is “kickback to itself.”
In addition, Ms. Swaraj poked fun at Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the party and chief minister, for Raaj Kumar Anand’s resignation from the cabinet.
The Delhi High Court ruled yesterday that Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest was lawful. Raaj Kumar Anand, who has known Kejriwal Ji since 2010, has made an effort to distance himself from the corrupt today. Raaj Kumar Anand, the minister of social welfare for Delhi, resigned earlier in the day from both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and his position, citing corruption within the organization.
Raaj Kumar Anand announced his resignation at a press conference, stating that he has found it difficult to stay in the role and that he does not want to be “involved in any corrupt practices.”
“I am a minister in the Delhi government; I have seven departments. I have come to share my sorrows because I am very depressed today. When Arvind Kejriwal declared, “Rajniti badlegi toh desh badlega,” or “if politics changes, the country will change,” that is when I entered politics. “But regrettably, today politics has not changed, but politicians have changed,” Raaj Kumar Anand remarked during the press conference on Wednesday. “Rajniti toh nahi badli, lekin rajneta badal gaye.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court affirmed the validity of Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise case. The court also stated that Arvind Kejriwal’s repeated failure to comply with summonses for more than six months was a contributing factor in his arrest. The petitioner could have presented his version to the investigating agency in front of the evidence it had gathered if he had joined the investigation as a result of receiving a summons under Section 50 of the PMLA, the court stated.
The Enforcement Directorate detained Mr. Kejriwal on March 21 in relation to the purported excise policy case.
Arvind Kejriwal was placed in judicial custody by the trial court on April 1 and given until April 15. ED alleged that the AAP is the major beneficiary of the proceeds of crime generated in the alleged liquor scam.
