Badaun murder news: Sajid died during a shootout with the police. The accused, according to police, opened fire on officers who were pursuing him and was shot dead.
Two kids were brutally murdered in the evening of Tuesday at Baba Colony in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, by what the police described as a local barber named Sajid. Ayush, age 13, and Honey, age 6, are the victims, according to reports.
In an alleged police encounter, Sajid was killed approximately two hours after the Badaun murders. The accused opened fire on the police team pursuing him, according to UP Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar, who said the accused was shot dead.
Why did Sajid murder the kids?
According to the deceased’s father, there were two people involved in the murder, and they are still unsure of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“I was not aware that the accused had been contacted.” The accused attempted to flee, but the police apprehended him. Two people were present. I am an outdoor person. We had not communicated with them previously. We do not know why this occurred,” Vinod Singh said to ANI.
Locals told India Today that the accused frequently got into arguments with the family of his neighbor, Vinod Kumar.
Citing the victim’s family, the SSP stated that the accused had demanded ₹5,000 from the child’s father, who had passed away. He said that the murder’s cause was currently being looked into by the police.

- The 22-year-old accused has been named Sajid.
- Sajid’s shop is located near the boys’ residence in Baba Colony, Civil Line police station area, in Badaun, the newspaper reported.
- Vinod Singh, the victims’ father, works as a contractor, and Sangeeta, their mother, owns a beauty salon.
- According to Badaun SSP Alok Priyadarshi, Sajid, the accused, entered the home at approximately 7:30.
- Vinod Singh allegedly left his wife at her beauty parlor at that time to go to the market. According to the police, the boys were at home with their paternal grandmother.
- According to the Indian Express, which quoted the police, Sajid went to the third floor of the house, where the two boys were playing with their eight-year-old brother Piyush while Vinod Singh’s mother was making tea.
- He attacked the boys with a sharp-edged weapon, slitting the throats of the two victims, the report added.
- Piyush, who was hurt but not badly, got away and told the others in the family.
- According to Alok Priyadarshi, the police units moved quickly to apprehend the accused after learning of his escape. The accused opened fire on the police, killing them in the process of retaliation.
- On the complaint of the father of the deceased, the police registered an FIR against Sajid and his brother Javed.
What the FIR asserted
According to the FIR, “The accused Sajid informed my wife that he needed money because his wife was going to give birth.” She took my dead sons with her when she went inside to get the money. He said he was feeling under the weather and wanted to take a walk on the terrace. He also summoned Javed, his brother, to the terrace. Upon her return, my spouse observed that Sajid and Javed were holding knives. Sajid also made an attempt to harm my son, who is still alive. While they were fleeing, Sajid informed my wife that he had finished his work for the day.”

As residents of the Baba Colony, which is close to the Mandi Samiti outpost, demonstrated against the horrifying double murder, there was a significant police presence there.
Manoj Kumar, the district magistrate (DM) of Badaun, stated that following the incident, some people became agitated and were asked to keep the peace.
