Why Pashupati Kumar Paras of the RLJP quits from the Modi Cabinet one day after being rejected for a seat: Bihar NDA’s setback
Pashupati Kumar Paras, the president of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), resigned from the Modi Cabinet on Tuesday, one day after learning that his party would not receive any seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. “The NDA alliance released the list of 40 candidates for the Bihar Lok Sabha yesterday. I worked with the utmost sincerity, and our party had five MPs. Our party and we have experienced injustice. I thus resign from my position as Union Minister,” he declared.
The NDA partners declared seat-sharing in Bihar on Monday. The agreement states that the BJP will run for 17 seats, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) for 16, and Chirag Paswan’s LJP for 5. The five seats that the Chirag-led LJP will run for are Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagariya, and Jamui.
The LJP, in its entirety, had taken six seats in the previous election. These chairs were anticipated by Pashupati Paras for his gathering. Still, the BJP chose Chirag.
The topic of seat sharing with Minister Pashupati Paras’s LJP faction was not brought up. Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary responded, “Talks with him are ongoing,” when questioned about it.
The Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM), led by Jitan Ram Manjhi, and the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will each run for one seat.
The BJP will be contesting from a number of important seats, including Aurangabad, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Begusarai, Nawada, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Aara, Buxar, and Sasaram.
Positions in Valmikinagar, Sitamadhi, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Gopalganj, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Sheohar have been allotted to the JD(U).
